Itziar Azpeitia

Itziar Azpeitia is Head of Special Projects at the strategy department of EITB. She mainly focuses on Research Development and Innovation (RDI) matters and international issues and relationships on the strategy board. She conducts research and fosters close relationships with the audio-visual sector, the university and with other external institutions regarding these topics.  

She has worked at EITB, the public service media of the Basque Country, for more than 30 years, across most diverse creative and executive roles. In addition to being head of different areas within the television division of EITB, during all these years she has also been involved in the production of a great variety of television programmes as executive producer, production manager, producer and director among other roles. 

She has also carried out a great deal of both professional and academic research and has participated in national and international conferences. She has published and presented academic papers and given lectures at various universities, including the University of Oxford. She holds a Doctorate (cum laude) in Social Communication/Audio-visual Media from the University of the Basque Country (UPV-EHU). She is a Postgraduate in Radio Film and Television from the University of Bristol (UK) and a Graduate in Journalism from the UPV-EHU university.
