Meet Øyvind Helland from NRK and their Gaming house 'LL35'
Image a house that belongs to three Twitch streamers. These hosts can game all day long, invite their friends to come over and play along, relax afterwards in their jacuzzi and organise a smashing party at the end of the day. Sounds like a dream? Øyvind from NRK and his team are making this a reality by remodeling a house in Norway to host this stream. Meet 'LL35'.
Let’s start at the beginning: where does the name come from?
‘It comes from the address of the house that we bought for this project.’
What is LL35?
''It’s about three hosts living in a house. They play a lot of video games, they invite friends, have parties, concerts and occasionally jump in their jacuzzi. All of this is streamed 24/7 on Twitch but make no mistake: This is no Big Brother. Not every room in the house has a camera and the hosts and their guests can leave the house anytime they want to run errands or do some shopping.
The hosts are part of the production team and thus can alter the stream at any time. Are they having dinner? With a swift push on a button the stream will enter ‘dinner-mode’. Are they gaming? They can switch the setup of the stream to fit that activity. This is all part of a fully automated live stream to make sure the hosts and crew aren’t drained from keeping the livestream running. And when they enjoy their well deserved sleep, the stream can always showcase the snake that lives in a terrarium in the house or some kick-ass robot vacuum cleaners that keep the house tidy.'

Who is this for?
'The target group consists of gamers aged 15 to 25. At NRK we call this ‘the impossible audience.’ They are on a whole array of different platforms and most of them are international. They spend more time gaming than watching TV so to reach this audience we feel we have to go big or go home. We had some success in the past, by reaching this audience through humor or drama series but it’s only for a short while and then they are gone again. We have to do something new and exciting that they haven’t seen before, something that sticks.
That’s why we bought a house and went for the crazy 24/7 idea.'
Somewhere between March and April 2022 NRK will go live with this project. Make sure you keep an eye on their Twitch and NRKTV (Might be geoblocked).
