Radio France open innovation: RapMinerz and Mouv'
The Radio France Sandbox program connected RapMinerz with Mouv', Radio France's rap and hip hop music channel.
During a 4-month experiment, the startup provided Mouv' with data on rap music trends and evolutions, which were then broadcast on air. The channel created a dedicated column to play with the data provided by RapMinerz: games with guest musicians, confrontations with their data... The editorialisation of the project demonstrated that data storytelling on the radio is a relevant and interactive new format. For RapMinerz, this collaboration has enabled them to experiment with new ways of searching and formatting data. The experience accelerated the company's development and gave it a high profile. By communicating about its collaboration with Mouv', RapMinerz also benefited from the credit of having worked with a national rap radio station. Collaborating with Mouv' exposed the young startup to the reality of how the industry works, and helped it to grow faster.
For Radio France, the experiment with RapMinerz gave Mouv' access to unprecedented data on french rap music trends and developments, and enabled it to test a new format on-air and on its social networks. This Radio France Sandbox also enabled the station to try out data storytelling using original data.
